Luoyang Peony Sword
ABOUT Luoyang Peony Sword
Luoyang Peony Sword is a traditional Chinese sword form created by Li Xinyi, a playwright from the Luoyang Henan Opera Theatre. Consisting of nineteen sequences, the form uses the movement of the sword tassel to evoke the posture, rhythm, and elegance of the peony flower.
Peony Sword uniquely combines the physical discipline and spirit of Chinese martial arts with the expressive aesthetics of Chinese opera, creating a practice that is both visually poetic and energetically grounded. Since its emergence in 1990, it has been widely embraced by practitioners and audiences across China.
